IVAN

A couple of weeks ago I talked to Ivan, my contact in Ukraine.

He found someone that does a great job translating from English to Ukrainian. One tract is complete – “Are You an Intelligent Person?” (24 pages)

We’ve begun work on the series HENRY & THEO – A QUEST FOR TRUTH. The translation process has been slow because of the war’s damage to the infrastructure and energy grid.

He told me a couple of weeks ago that he went to the front lines on the east side of the country. He said that they traveled through many former villages without a single standing structure. Everything in these villages has been totally destroyed. I told him I bow on my knees and pray daily for them.

MISHA

Later I spoke with Misha in Russia and he gave such a good report on the church.

I told him that I pray for him and his family in the Ukraine on a daily basis. And that on my knees. (It’s in reference to 2 Chronicles 7:14 “humble yourselves and pray…”)

He said that as a youngster growing up he often found his father on his knees in prayer. Then he said, “I will do this also.”

Would you join together with us as we look to the future on our knees before the throne of God in prayer? Anytime will do.

HENRY AND THEO – A QUEST FOR TRUTH

THE GOAL

The goal of this series is to make it possible to have spiritual conversations with almost anyone. The series will initiate and guide such dialogues in a non-confrontational manner.

The goal of this ministry is to get these booklets into the hands of those desiring to share their faith. This helps grow and build personal spiritual maturity, small groups and churches.

“I GET IT”

A college student who participates in a campus ministry told me she prayed with another student for the first time. She said this was not easy for her. The young lady that she prayed with had a very difficult childhood and no spiritual background.

I handed this college student a set of the HENRY AND THEO – A QUEST FOR TRUTH booklets. I wanted to encourage and help her as she discipled others.

She browsed through them briefly and said, “I get it” realizing that “Henry and Theo” could help her reach out to others in her campus ministry.

THREE WAYS TO SUPPORT THIS MINISTRY

  1. Prayer – pray that God will send laborers into the fields that are white unto harvest. (Over the holidays I went to the Galleria Mall in Dallas three times – the first time there were so many people I froze up but did better the second and third times, Longview Mall twice and Tyler Mall once.)
  2. Give – Your monthly offerings toward this ministry will provide a salary for me, rent for a studio apartment in Plano, TX, funds to print the material, funds to translate the material into other languages (working on Ukrainian at the moment, Spanish is next), travel and common expenses incurred to “go into all the world.”
  3. Encourage – 1 Thessalonians 5:11 tells us to encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing. May the words of my mouth speak peace to you!

FUN FACTS:

***The booklets were written and designed in St Petersburg, Russia from 1996 to 2017.
***The purpose was to show people a Biblical world view.
***They were written as dialogues to remove as much evangelistic conflict as possible. (The reader is the third person in the conversation and is not personally addressed.)
***The original names for the characters in Russian were “Boris and Dima.”
Boris was the inquisitive unbeliever. Dima was trying to have spiritual conversations with people who had never prayed, read the Bible or had any contact with believers. (That was the situation I was faced with in Russia).

***Hundreds of thousands of these booklets were printed and distributed in Russian, most of them in black and white.
***They were instrumental in establishing a church in downtown St Petersburg, Russia.
***As I passed them out people would sometimes say “I’ve read that one.” So I wrote the series so people would have new material to read. I did not want the evangelistic effort to be “one and done” but rather “let’s explore a biblical worldview.”
