Zhytomer appeared in the rearview mirror. My destination was Lviv.  My intent was to do some evangelism and find a place to stay for the night.

Upon arrival in the city I spent about an hour looking for a place with lots of foot traffic and then a place to park.

Before evangelism I usually pray. Today I felt somewhat stressed and prayed, “God, if I am where you want me to be, doing what you want me to do, would you mind confirming it?”

Shortly an old lady approached me, took one of my booklets, saw what it was and handed it back to me. She then told me she became a  believer either when she was 56 or 56 years ago. I was a bit distracted, trying to observe my surroundings, so I wasn’t giving her my full attention.

She then took both my hands in hers and began praying. That got my attention. She prayed that God would bless me and keep me safe and healthy. She repeated her prayer twice. And then she left.

I stayed for about 3 hours in Lviv and left with the intention of getting a motel somewhere along the way to my destination of Berehove.

I DID NOT STOP ALONG THE WAY

WHAT’SAPP

My father is 95 years old and I enjoy speaking with him on a daily basis. To do that from afar we use What’sApp. Sometimes it works for him and sometimes not. This was one of the sketchy days where the connection failed us several times. Then I talked with my oldest son. By then my destination was only about 1.5 hours further down the road and I kept driving.

I pulled into Berehove about 10 pm and drove directly to see the missionary living there.

I knocked on his door and he came outside. It was quite a surprise to see him. He recently had two bicycle accidents and did a face plant both time. He was really beat up and skinned up. I doctored him what little I could with triple antibiotic ointment and enjoyed catching up with him.

CURFEW 11 PM TILL 5 AM

It was 11:45 by the time I left to get a room for the night and being out past curfew worried me more than a little. I drove to three different motels and they were all closed. So I called him and said I needed a place to stay for the night. He had a makeshift cot and I fed the mosquitos till 5 am. At that time I left and got some coffee at a gas station. I took a two hour nap in the car and when the motels opened I got a room.

Funny thing – the guy that arranged for the rental car suggested I get the car with the best seat saying I might need to sleep in it. He was right.
