So many churches are struggling, so many closing their doors. I decided to work on a strategy for church growth. If you need help filling it out, or want more information, contact me at kplaster_2000@yahoo.com.

BOTTOM

This is the current state of your church. The decade is 2021-2030. 1/3 of the decade is gone. If things continue as they have the past three years what will your church look like in 2030?

If your church is in a state of decline, that can be changed.

Decide what you want this decade to look like and fill in the blank – DECADE OF ______??______

MIDDLE

CORE VALUES: When we talk about “growth” or “change” people invariably begin with the things that should not change. Determine your core values and write them down.

GOAL: Decide what you want to accomplish. Write your goals down.

GROWTH INHIBITORS: There are some things that you can realistically expect to keep you from reaching your goals. Write them down. Let me list three and see if you agree with me.

The Great Commission is often like exercise equipment – useful, but not fulfilling its purpose. Engage!!

  1. Another study of the Great Commission. Yep. Just another study and nothing gets done.
  2. Not addressing the issue of safety while fulfilling the Great Commission. People don’t evangelize because they don’t feel safe. (In Russia we used silly pictures and written dialogue between a believer and an unbeliever. This was done to take the attention away from the messenger and focus attention on the message. Dialogue between believer and unbeliever made the reader the third person in the conversation, and as such they were not personally confronted. The only application is the one they choose to make to themselves.)
  3. The membership has not been equipped to aid in church growth. Leaders can tell what they are doing to initiate church growth — not what the membership is doing to initiate growth. Everyone needs to engage in the work of the Great Commission.

FEARS, REGRETS, CONSEQUENCES

Two aspects: 1. Of reaching your objective, and 2. Of NOT reaching your objective. Fears, regrets, and consequences must be identified and addressed. It is a very important part of the strategy.

I HOPE THIS IS A DECADE OF GROWTH FOR YOUR CHURCH. May God add His blessings.
