When I was a small child a missionary came to my church representing work being done in the Solomon Islands. His name was Neil Morley. He had a slide screen and projector and a few items from the Solomon Islands that he displayed on the front table near the projector screen. He introduced himself and began showing pictures. He had lots of pictures and spoke at length about each one. His presentation was extremely long. I don’t know just how long, but I do know some people left before he finished.

Me, I sat on the front row closest to him as he gave his presentation. And I was totally engrossed to the very end. I hung on every word. That Sunday night, in my heart, I became a missionary.

I actually thought if I ever did missions it would be in some tropical place, nice and warm. Ironically, Tammy and I lived in the frozen north of St Petersburg, Russia for 21 years and had great ministries.

From the first time I thought about being a missionary to the time I became a missionary in 1995 was roughly twenty five years. When the doors opened that allowed missionaries into the former Soviet Union I would publicly pray for someone to go. But privately I prayed God would send me. He answered that prayer.

In Russia I wrote literature that was both evangelistic and apologetic and distributed it along with Bibles to make Christ known. This was such a great opportunity since said material was strictly forbidden in Soviet Russia for decades.

In 2021 another opportunity arose to join Wycliffe Bible Translators in their efforts to make God’s Word known to Bible-less people. At present I am doing career assessment with them to establish how we can work best together.

PARTNERSHIP MAKES IT POSSIBLE!

Please consider partnering with us both prayerfully and financially. Your gift each month enables us to do the work necessary to reach Bible-less people.
